On February 6th, I had the opportunity to go see and shoot for the up and coming bass artist G Jones along with his openers Tsuruda and Chee. They were playing at The Beacham in Orlando that night, which is an average sized venue. It has a capacity of about 1400, which I prefer this size in most cases because it’s big enough to fit plenty of people, and small enough and more intimate to where you can easily get up close to the artist (when I’m not already in the photo pit).
I’m not a longtime listener of bass music, but checked out his latest album The Ineffable Truth as soon as I heard that I’d be able to shoot for him and wanted to identify those songs live. I really vibed with his song “Different Sound”, which stood out as one of the more hyped and wild songs with really interesting bass tones and dynamics. The crowd was raging basically nonstop the entire song. That or “Time” would be my favorite. “Time” was a much longer song of the dubstep genre, just over six minutes, but in my opinion had the most soulful aesthetic due to its wider range of pace, going from a hype jazz styled drum like intro, to a slowed down series or organ like tones building it back up into a somewhat darker, more intense version of the intro. The rest of the set was consistently exciting and kept the audience from standing still.
These shows live are obviously going to be much better when listening to this genre, since it’s the heaviest you can really feel bass and his light show was insanely cool, very accurately lining up with the energy of the music. Any fan of bass music or dubstep would have an awesome time at one of his shows. The tour is only a few days in and ends early March (aside from one in April). See if G Jones is playing near you at: gjonesbass.com/shows.

Blueface makes it to Oklahoma City after a mishap in LA, performs to a sold-out crowd, and “Thotiana” has the whole crowd on bust down.
The widely accepted rapper known as Blueface encountered LA law enforcement the night before he landed his untouched performance in Oklahoma City, OK. Luckily, Blueface was released hours after being detained and able to make the Oklahoma City show. Blueface is an emerging artist out of West Los Angeles with his hit songs Thotiana, Bleed It, and Respect My Crypn. Blueface continues to impress everyone as he is becoming more viral each day and has mentioned himself to be the next big thing in various interviews.
As Next Year Entertainment prepared Oklahoma City for Blueface’s performance the fans were ecstatic. The Fresh Sound Lounge ended up packed full of people even filling up the top floor. After this sold-out show, everything says that Next Year Ent. will continue to bring the momentum to Oklahoma City’s audience. Their next show at the Fresh Sound Lounge will be headlining Quando Rondo and is set for February 23rd.
Blueface’s refined original dance move called the “Bust Down” made viral through his song Thotiana kept the energy at an all-time high throughout the performance Saturday night. Thotiana seems to be the new Blueface anthem from the crowd’s reactions. Before exiting the building Blueface left his fans with one last thing throwing his blue Adidas jacket into the crowd. The jacket is now believed to be in multiple pieces after the security guards had to step in over the excitement on the occurrence—sharing is caring, right? As of late Blueface has gained attention at a fast rate and seems he has no intention of slowing down, the people are left to wonder what’s the limits when it comes to the 22-year-old rapper’s career.
Have you heard of Blueface and if so, what’s your favorite song?

Following the release of their new album Acoustic Volume 2, a follow-up to their 2006 release Acoustic, Bayside announced their first full US, full band acoustic tour. The tour touched down in Dallas, TX on Saturday, January 12th for a chilly outdoor set at Gas Monkey Bar N’ Grill.
With the crowd all bundled up and gathered around outdoor heaters, it felt like a fitting setting for an acoustic show. While the set was tame compared to your typical Bayside show consisting of fans jumping around, crowd surfers, and the occasional mosh pit, the campfire-type vibes that hosted their acoustic show only added to the feeling of intimacy brought on by an acoustic set.
Opening with Monceanu, the band then moved into playing a few songs that are featured on their newest album, Acoustic Volume 2, including “Devotion and Desire”, “Howard”, and “It Don’t Exist”. While the band continued to make their way through the 17 song setlist it was clear how much thought went into choosing the songs for this tour, giving the fans all gathered around the heaters on a chilly night a little bit of everything you could want from a stripped down Bayside show.
The band finished off the evening by playing “Landing Feet First”, but not before a fan hopped on stage to propose to his now fiancé! After an enthusiastic yes, the newly engaged couple then slow danced on stage during “Landing Feet First” for a perfect end to an intimate acoustic night with Bayside. It’s definitely a show that won’t soon be forgotten.
