Wallows | Sterling Heights

September 9, 2024

Under the hazy lights of Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre, BENEE’s quirky charm immediately seized the crowd. Her set was an infectious mix of indie-pop hits like "Supalonely" and "Glitter," each track carried by her crystalline vocals. As she bounced through the set, her laid-back vibe made the show feel like a warm daydream.

Then came Wallows — radiating pure indie rock energy. Opening with "Do Not Wait," they swept the audience into a nostalgic whirlwind. Dylan Minnette’s raw emotion in every lyric, paired with the band's undeniable chemistry, had the crowd swaying and singing along. Tracks like "Are You Bored Yet?" and "Scrawny" were electric. The band members even ventured into the audience while performing to get the B-Stage, connecting with their fans directly, making for a memorable experience.

Both BENEE and Wallows delivered sets that were as sonically tight as they were emotionally raw, leaving fans both inspired and reflective by the night’s end. The amphitheater, too, lent itself perfectly to the experience — intimate yet full of life. For anyone lucky enough to catch this dual performance, it was a night that celebrated the beautifully chaotic nature of youth and connection.
