'MAKE ME' / LUCKI STARR: SINGLE REVIEW

BY SARAH KEARNS

After achieving widespread popularity for her videos on Musical.ly, Lucki Starr has taken her career to the next level. The 19-year-old singer-songwriter released her first single, Make Me, in early March.

The track’s cover art boasts bright teal and fuchsia lettering and a candid of Starr. It's distinct 80’s quality leaves the listener expecting tunes paralleling the style of Michael Jackson, but delivers something else entirely. Starr croons catchy verses in beat to a punchy background noise, simultaneously delivering her own unique sound and matching the edginess of the King of Pop himself.

Make Me is hard hitting, upbeat, and fun. Whether in the car or in the club, it's easy to groove to Starr’s voice as she divulges her boy problems.

“I don't wanna rush forever. See what it is cause. I'm down for whatever. If you're riding, you're riding. If you're not, then be off. Don't have the time for the back and forth.”

We’ve all been in that tough spot at one point or another. Lucki Starr gets it. The man can go, but Make Me has a permanent place in our playlists.
